National Entrepreneurship Month: Who Is EAS?

Entrepreneurial Accounting Solutions, or EAS, is a team of accountants at McKonly & Asbury (M&A) who strive to provide excellent support to clients. Recently renamed from the Entrepreneurial Services Group (ESG), the EAS team works to provide complete and accurate solutions to any client’s accounting situation. The EAS team members are accountants who provide a higher level of expertise for businesses than a traditional bookkeeper may provide.

Who Is EAS?

EAS is made up of team-focused individuals. The goal of the team is to support each other to provide top-notch service to clients. Two of the firm’s core values, “We, Not Me” and “How Can I…?” are embodied by EAS. If a team member needs assistance, another member steps up to the plate without hesitation. Each member of EAS has a different background but has also been cross-trained, which provides a wealth of knowledge and capability to tackle all client situations, no matter the size.

The EAS team is led by Partner David Blain and Director Lindsay Young. David has been part of M&A for twenty years with prior experience in private industry and with an international public accounting firm. He provides broad expertise to the team for several services, including accounting, auditing, transaction advisory, business valuation, strategic planning, and business forecasting.

Lindsay has been a member of all teams at M&A in her twenty-one years at the firm. She brings vast experience to the team, specializing in back-office accounting and consulting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial statement preparation, accounting software review and assistance, and new business start-ups. Additionally, she provides private client services for high-net-worth individuals. Lindsay enjoys helping businesses with their accounting needs by providing accurate financial statements that make sense and provide value.

What Types of Services Does EAS Provide?

The type of clients that EAS supports vary but include small businesses, nonprofits, franchises, and individuals. EAS handles a large range of services such as accounts payable processing, audit support, month-end reviews, tax compliance, and financial report preparation. Services provided are classified as Outsourced Accounting, Internal Accounting, and Tax Accounting.

Outsourced Accounting provides clients with full-service accounting functions through a combination of on-site and remote work. This includes CFO, controller, and accounting manager roles. In addition to these roles, a full accounting team can assist a business with accounts payable and receivable processing, month-end close, sales tax return preparation and compliance, audit support, budgeting, cash flow projections, and software migrations. These services also include financial statements and board reports with a specialty in not-for-profit accounts.

Internal Accounting provides support to and oversight of the accounting functions of an organization. While day-to-day operations are maintained by the client, Internal Accounting performs detailed reviews throughout the year to ensure that financials are accurate and complete. Additional support and expertise are provided to the client as needed or requested. This part of EAS also assists clients with yearly 1099 filings, year-end financial reviews, and tax preparation. As the use of technology increases and evolves, EAS reviews software and tech platforms to stay current with potential options for clients to use to improve efficiency.

EAS Tax Accounting provides support around tax deduction availability, projections for quarterly income tax estimates, annual financial statement review, and overall preparation of business and individual income tax returns. Clients are advised on how to best handle taxable income before year end, including applicable accounting adjustments. Tax returns are completed and subsequently reviewed with the client to discuss questions or changes before final filing. Continued review of tax updates and software changes are performed to ensure that the team is efficient and aware of changes, allowing EAS to provide superior client service.

The team members of EAS each have their own strengths and experience allowing them to perform work aligned with their strengths. The three main services of EAS cross over into each other. This allows the full team to work together to provide clients with the full expertise and knowledge of EAS. If further expertise is required, EAS works seamlessly with the other segments of M&A.

To answer the question, “Who is EAS?” EAS is a full service back-office accounting support team specializing in Outsourced Accounting, Internal Accounting, and Tax Accounting. The team provides a total accounting solution so clients can focus on managing their businesses.
