How HITRUST Works

The HITRUST assessment process is built on the HITRUST Common Security Framework (CSF), which integrates regulatory standards and industry best practices into a single approach. Throughout the HITRUST journey, both HITRUST and the external assessor will be involved at various stages of the assessment. The process involves:

Readiness Assessment: Evaluate your current security posture and identify gaps.
Remediation: Address any deficiencies found during the readiness assessment.
Assessment Period: Conduct a full assessment in conjunction with the external assessor to determine compliance with HITRUST i1 requirements.
Assessment Validation Period: External assessor performs testing of i1 assessment and validates compliance with the HITRUST i1 requirements.
HITRUST Quality Assurance: HITRUST conducts a quality review of testing performed by the external assessor.
Validation/Certification: Upon successful completion, HITRUST issues a validated or certified report for your organization, valid for one year.
