WEBINAR: Property Management 101

Special guest Susie Ortega, Assistant Director of Compliance at M&L Compliance Management, led the final webinar of our Affordable Housing Summer Series. This training was designed for the new property manager and all front-line staff who are responsible for the day-to-day operations of an affordable housing property. The webinar also benefited seasoned staff with a refresher on understanding property operations, understanding legal requirements, preparing for an audit, and various management tools that will aide in the day-to-day operations, as well as throughout the year.

Attendees of this McKonly & Asbury Webinar gained insight on the following:

  • How to build a “Toolbox” of important documents, including the Management Plan, Tenant Selection Plan, Affirmative Fair Housing Marketing Plan, the Lease, House Rules and Tenant Handbook, as well as company policies and procedures all managers of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and HOME funded properties should have
  • Tips and tools to be prepared for the annual HFA management and file review
  • Interpreting important legal documents, such as the Indenture of Restrictive Covenants, Regulatory Agreements, and IRS Form 8609
  • Commonly used affordable housing acronyms and how to create a property unit matrix and fact sheet

This free, one-hour webinar took place on Thursday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. EDT. One “Specialized Knowledge” CPE credit was available for this webinar. The level for this webinar was basic and no prerequisites were required. This program was a live webinar which offered the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the presenters.
