Living Out Purpose Through Profits in 2017
Over the past year, our team has come together to give back to our community. Here’s a recap of our efforts and the impact we have made on our community in 2017!
McKonly & Asbury and its employees spent January through April collecting household items to donate to Safe Harbour. Safe Harbour is a not-for-profit organization that provides a continuum of housing services for the homeless of Cumberland County. Our team came together to supply pillows, sheets, towels, diapers, soap, and much more for this great organization!
Later in the spring, during a kickoff event for our Externship Program, students and McKonly & Asbury buddies assembled bicycles. While this helped the students experience teamwork first hand, it also gave them a preview of how important Purpose Through Profits is to our team as we were able to donate these bicycles to a deserving organization in the community – Tabor Community Services.
During the summer, McKonly & Asbury and York Housing Authority partnered to help children and families living at the Homes at Thackston Park prepare for the upcoming school year. McKonly & Asbury team members collected school supplies throughout the summer at its Camp Hill and Lancaster office locations to donate to the families. Donations included 90 backpacks filled with school supplies.
In September, McKonly & Asbury team members joined thousands of volunteers in the Capital Region for the annual United Way Day of Caring. Members of our team volunteered to serve at the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art, a nature and art center with galleries, walking trails, educational spaces, and more, located in Millersburg, PA. McKonly & Asbury’s staff members assisted the Ned Smith Center in digging out a trench along an ADA compliant trail, clearing brush and debris to prepare for a 5K race, mulching, and much more. This marked the 13th consecutive year that McKonly & Asbury has participated in the Capital Region Day of Caring.
In December, our offices organized efforts for the holiday season to give back to families in need. Our Camp Hill office partnered with Vickie’s Angel Foundation and our Lancaster office partnered with Tabor Community Services to provide support to local families in need. Our teams in each office purchased gifts for families and wrapped them so that they could be delivered in time for Christmas.
Thanks again to all of our team members who exemplified Purpose Through Profits by helping to make our yearly community service efforts a huge success!
