McKonly & Asbury’s 2017 Nonprofit Conference: Pathways to Excellence was held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 and focused specifically on addressing the unique needs of the nonprofit sector. The conference discussed current trends, updates, and tools nonprofits need to know.


Date – Thursday, October 19, 2017
Time – 8:00am – 12:05pm (registration and breakfast began at 7:30am)
Location – Giant Community Center: inside the Camp Hill Giant Food Store
Cost – $25 registration fee
Attendees were eligible for 4.5 Continuing Professional Education Hours (3.0 Specialized Knowledge; 1.0 A&A; 0.5 Tax). The level of the content was basic and there were no prerequisites.

The presentation will also evaluate common perceptions surrounding planned giving, planned giving’s importance in achieving long-term sustainability, as well as some techniques to help nonprofits launch and maintain a robust planned-giving program.

Reimagining the Tax and Finance Function of Your Organization
Dan Matarrese, Senior Manager at McKonly & Asbury
Dan will be facilitating a discussion around practical ways to reimagine the tax and finance function of your organization. He will give real-life examples and present opportunities available to help attendees think about the operational functions that can be updated to encourage an environment of continuous improvement in their organization.

Nonprofit Tax Update
Gary Dubas, Partner at McKonly & Asbury

Gary’s presentation will focus on understanding public disclosure requirements, best practices for Form 990 reporting, and other items of interest regarding taxation for nonprofit organizations.

A&A Technical Update
Janice Snyder, Partner and Jim Shellenberger, Principal at McKonly & Asbury
This presentation will include a review of recently issued accounting standards, including upcoming changes to revenue recognition and lease accounting. In addition, the impact of the new non-profit financial reporting standards will be discussed.
